I have 0 clue why I love this stuff, but it's incredible!
Fun. - All The Pretty Girls
Gotye - In Your Light
So into these groups lately, both are on a playlist on Spotify and Google Music!
For songs you've maybe heard from these artist as well:
Fun. - We Are Young
Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know

Both of these bands.. *cough* (Gotye isn't really a "band".. but I digress) have talent that isn't seen in the music industry nowadays.. Fun. was the first band to top the billboard 100 since 2008. Hopefully it's a good sign.

I read that fun. was a combination of the format, steel train and some other band. The format and steel train put out some decent stuff

It's a band. Check out the live show.

I just can't really get into Gotye. I respect their talent and everyone's attraction towards them, but it just does not do it for me. Oh well.
The Fun song was just awful.

We were young has a terrible verse and an awesome chorus. Eh.

"Gotye" is 1 person: Wouter "Wally" De Backer, who happens to have a band. It would be like saying Phil Collin's is a band, but Phil Collin's only HAD a band that played with him. Gotye is a person.. with a band.. semantics.. etc.

That's like saying bright eyes is a person.
When it's conor oberst and company.
Bright eyes is a band. Gotye is a band.

Except Backer has a stage name, that stage name is Gotye.
Wouter "Wally" De Backer IS Gotye, it's a stage name. Completely different.
Conor is the founder of a band called Bright Eyes, that makes the band: Bright Eyes.. Backer is really Gotye, because it IS Backer's stage name.. don't get the difference?!

From Gotye's website:
The slightly more serious bit (in a convenient Q&A format):
Who are you?
Gotye (pronounced as-in Jean-Paul Gaultier). Music-making mutant.
Real name?
Wally (born Wouter) De Backer

In my ongoing campaign to remain hip & relevant, I listened to both songs.
I wouldn't go so far as "awesome", but the chorus was certainly the highlight of the Fun -- oh excuse me, I mean Fun. -- track
Didn't care for the Gotye
