It seems like this board should have this thread. Every Friday, new music is released. I'm usually aware of release dates and what not for artists that I like, but as I've grown older, I've stopped paying as much attention and I do miss stuff sometimes. So feel free to share albums that are released each Friday that you think are worth a listen.

March 9 2018

Albert Hammond Jr - Francis Trouble. If you aren't familiar with Albert Hammond Jr, he is a guitarist in The Strokes. He's put out a few albums, but his first, "Yours to Keep", is his best, and is an excellent album. This new one is pretty good and will need a few listens.

Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats - “Tearing at the Seams”. I'll let Jumping the Shark provide his thoughts on this one.

I like the idea. Nothing I’m super excited about this week though. Still catching up on prior weeks.

I’ll probably check out the new Mount Eeeie and Yo La Tengo today.

Picked up the new Judas Priest record this week. If you are a long-time Priest fan, it is stellar. Easily the best record since "Painkiller"

I missed last week because I was at SXSW. So I'll cover the last two Fridays.

March 16, 2018

Decemberists - I'll Be Your Girl. I need to give it a few more listens, but I liked what I've heard. The first song on the album sounds like it could have fit on The Crane Wife until the synth kicks in. It's an interesting contrast to the acoustic guitar at the beginning.

Jack White - Boarding House Reach: I gave it a listen this morning. It's very different from his last two albums. It seems a lot more experimental and has some very odd songs. I'm not really sure what to think of it...One song that stood out was "Respect Commander" on first listen.

New jack white album seems pretty indulgent on first listen to me. Maybe I need to listen again but definitely didn’t do it for me the first time and I love his music across as all his bands.

I'm subscribed to the Third Man Records Vault so I got a special edition of his new record in the mail today. Haven't even spun it yet if that tells you how excited I am about it. For a guy as talented as he is, I've found all of his work since the Stripes to be pretty subpar. I really wish he'd just go back to his blues roots, shred the guitar, and scream into the microphone.

The Vault gets you some killer limited edition vinyl releases and 1/2 off Tidal Hifi but you definitely get some dud quarterly packages (like this quarter).

Well...this isn’t that.

Yeah. I agree on Jack White. I think he can do a lot better and wish he’d go back to his roots, much like John Fruaciante. I’d also rather see him do a straight blues album or some big rock opera kinda thing. He’s perfect for it.

I’ve listened to the new Decemberists album a few times. It is damn good. It might be one of their best efforts IMO. It’s just a really solid album all around. I’m not even a huge fan of the band, though I did thoroughly enjoy Crane Wife and Hazards of Love (also a rock opera).
