Neil Geraldo

Fellow guitarists, have any of you ever felt like Neil Geraldo has been underrated? I love his solos and superb rhythm playing coupled with Pat Benatar's phenomenal vocals.

I love his earlier work like in this.

He’s tremendously underrated IMHO. Hardly ever comes up in the list of great guitarists of the ‘80s, despite an impressive body of work.

Likewise his wife rarely comes up in the discussion of great female rock singers, despite her incredible range and perfect (pre-Melodyne) pitch. It’s kind of strange, seeing as how they dominated the rock/pop world for the better part of a decade.

Almost never mentioned in guitarist threads, and he should be.

I used to joke about how incredible it would be if Neil Geraldo and Elliot Easton from The Cars were in a power pop band as twin guitarists. Talk about fuel for a perfectly written and executed guitar-centric pop album you could enjoy cover to cover.

I think there just isn’t much discussion of female vocalists. Rock vocalists. The ones talked about aren’t rock. Pat Benetar also just got wrapped up with 80’s pop fluff. Sad though. She can flat out wail. And in her prime she was all throttle all the time.

Easton is another unappreciated guy. Maybe someone should start a thread ...

He actually played guitar on Rick Springfield's "Jessie's Girl".
