I've been trying to get into this one recently. There are a couple of very good tracks but on the whole I am a little underwhelmed.

Quite like it now, but I remember the first time I ever heard it. I thought that there was something wrong with my stereo.

In my top 20...not for everyone. I didn't like it the first time. Great opening tune and then it gets very "busy" with a lot of "stuff", but you come to appreciate it as you understand it.
Influenced more bands than all of us can count.

The quick drum fill and then guitar onslaught at the beginning of "Only Shallow" maybe the best opening five seconds of any album I have heard.

I've always felt that this album was the best representation of how the 90's felt to young people. Everything was advancing so fast that it kind of felt like a haze as it was impossible to understand everything. It just sounds like my experience of growing up during that time period.

I've been listening to it off and on for like 3-4 years now.
At first I just really didn't like it. Then after a while I just really liked a few tracks on it. Then all the sudden after many multiple listens it just clicked.
It's now one of my top 10 albums ever, and I probably listen to it all the way through every week or two.
Put some headphones on and turn the lights off and just try and really hear everything that is going on below the surface on each track. It's really just layer after layer of sound, it's fricking awesome. Kevin Shields is a genius.

When Lost in Translation, the movie, used "Sometimes" during the can ride scene, I dug MBV back out. I had not listened to that album in 5-6 years at that time.
As Seaward said, "Only Shallow" is a track that just kills your stereo with drums and guitar massacre. It's a fine, fine opener.
