I’ve had the same strings for 2 years. It makes for great tone
I have various Thomastik Infields on all my basses, and I rarely change the strings. If you clean them regularly, and find a tone you like, I would advise against it. I know bass players who haven't changed their strings for a decade.
The Infields for whatever reason remain remarkably bright for such a long time. On my Rick, I haven't changed the strings since 2016, and the tone is honestly perfect. On my TB-40, I have the tone knobs set so it sounds like a P/J bass, and the Infields on it just are perfect as well.
The only change I might be willing to make is going to flatwounds on some basses. I have 3 Bass VI's that I need to change the strings for, as I haven't found a set of Bass VI strings that reach the quality of the Thomastik Infields.

You're supposed to change the strings?

I’d be more interested in the drums. Bass is the easiest thing to record at home. The only thing is changing the strings. Drums are what’s a pita to track
