I think you missed the entire point. Even their words have great meaning, except they are on the side of the "Machine".

lmao they are ab as anti-american/lib left/commie promoters as anyone i can remember

That is like saying a christain rock band is great but they need to stop singing about Jesus, thats kind of their whole schtick

ftr i love Rage Against the Machine

picture from 1991

quote:

Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes
Not need, just feed the war cannibal animal
I walk the corner to the rubble that used to be a library
Line up to the mind cemetery now
What we don't know keeps the contracts alive and movin'
They don't gotta burn the books they just remove 'em
While arms warehouses fill as quick as the cells
Rally 'round the family, pockets full of shells

quote:

Some of those that work forces
Are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces
Are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces
Are the same that burn crosses
Some of those that work forces
Are the same that burn crosses

quote:

Those who died are justified
For wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died
By wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
Those who died are justified
For wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites
You justify those that died
By wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites

quote:

Who stood and watched as the feds cold centralized
So serene on the screen, he was mesmerized
Cellular phones soundin' a death tone
Corporations cold turn you to stone before ya realize

quote:

Transmission third world war third round
A decade of the weapon of sound above ground
No shelter if you're lookin' for shade
I lick shots at the brutal charade
As the polls close like a casket
On truth devoured
A Silent play in the shadow of power
A spectacle monopolized
The camera's eyes on choice disguised
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?
Yes a spectacle monopolized
They hold the reins and stole your eyes
Or the fistagons
The bullets and bombs
Who stuff the banks
Who staff the party ranks
More for Gore or the son of a drug lord
None of the above frick it cut the cord

quote:

Bam! Here's the plan
Motherfrick Uncle Sam
Step back, I know who I am
Raise up your ear, I'll drop the style and clear
It's the beats and the lyrics they fear
The rage is relentless
We need a movement with a quickness
You are the witness of change
And to counteract
We gotta take the power back

He seems really proud of his lame attempt to make forces and crosses ryhme. They've always been a poser band. They're about as good as Green Day, who also sucked.

Yeah, people can listen to whatever they like...even if it's terrible.

But catering to people with terrible, basic taste is a big part of why music has sucked so hard for the last 20+ years.

you think pop music has been the only genre for the last 20 years? no one is making music independently? you sound pretty ignorant for being so smug. lmao sounds like you take yourself too seriously

a better analogy would be if they used to be a Christian band called the "I Love Jesus Band", but now they just sing about how much they love the devil and hate God yet still call themselves, unironically, "The I Love Jesus Band"

Do they take themselves too seriously? I know a lot of their fans do, but the band themselves always seems to be joking around/having a good time. Especially Danny Carey

not following, are you trying to say Rage Against the Machine used to sing positively about the US government and economy? or are you saying the are sell outs bc they have been extremely successful/profitable and are not truly communists?

ETA: no shite they arent really commies, but their style definitely fits with the hardcore punk genre of the early 90s. Do you think the Sex Pistols really had sex with pistols?

Old news, I know, but I love the way Don Henley explains that the chord progression that Don Felder came up with for Hotel California was anything but the essence of the entire song.

Haha, Frey once downplayed Joe Walsh's contribution on Life In The Fast Lane, despite the fact the whole freaking song was built around the intro he (Walsh) came up with...

Bruh y’all some boomers defending 50 year old millionaires that rap about living in the ghetto and being harassed by cops while their guitarist plays power chords through a line 6 amp on insane mode through a wah pedal

Just because a band was popular when you were in high school doesn’t mean they’re good. 99.9% of music is garbage we need to go back to like the Middle Ages where people couldn’t get rich off it
