Music Throwdown - Who Was Better? Marty Robbins or The Highwaymen?

America Remains
Pancho and Lefty (not Highwaymen song, but is included b/c it's a Willy classic that should've been a Highwaymen song)
Too close to call. The moment I choose Marty Robbins, a voice tells me, "Hold on a second...Highwayman and Pancho and Lefty are incredibly magical timeless songs. They're two of the best songs ever recorded."
But when I choose The Highwaymen, a voice tells me, "Whoa, Marty Robbins damn near single handedly created the western genre with songs like Big Iron, Devil Woman, and Cool Clear Water. No one did western better than Marty."
Too close to choose.

What kind of comparison is this? 1 artist against a 'supergroup'?
You do realize the Highwaymen just got together on their off time to record 3 albums in a 10 year span; Marty Robbins had over 50 albums in 40 years.
This comparison is like asking who was better; The Saints Superbowl win in 2009 or the Dallas Cowboys?

Marty Robbins, no contest. The members of the Highwaymen have some of the greatest songs ever individually, but their "supergroup" mostly sounds like uninspired covers that do no justice to the originals.
