You know 90's music isn't really a wedding friendly genre. for instance, Ozzy's Crazy Train, although a great song, may not be the best choice for your joyous occasion

My fave band Smashing Pumpkins
Everlasting Gaze FTW

Do you like Silversun Pickups? It seems like your kind of thing

Sorry if I repeat any but here's a random smattering.

Beach Boys - God Only Knows
AWOLNATION - All I Need
Nada Surf - Always Love
Feeder - Buck Rogers
Barenaked Ladies - Brian Wilson, The Old Apartment, Call and Answer, If I Had A Million Dollars
Young the Giant - Cough Syrup
Eames Era - Could Be Anything
Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Dada - Dizz Knee Land
Any track by The Toadies
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Toad the Wet Sprocket - When Will We Fall Down
Social Distortion - Don't Take Me For Granted (drops an F bomb early on), Story Of My Life
Mike Ness (of Social Distortion) - Don't Think Twice
Dinosaur Jr. - Feel the Pain
Phish - Heavy Things
Collective Soul - Gel, Heavy, The World I Know, Shine, etc.
AiC - anything really
Pixies - Here Comes Your Man, Where Is My Mind
Gin Blossoms - i celebrate their entire catalog
Mr. Big - To Be With You
Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill
Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated
Better Than Ezra - In The Blood
Jeffery Gaines - In Your Eyes
The Cure - Just Like Heaven
Weezer - My Name Is Jonas
The Nixons - Sister (Acoustic)
Dave Matthews Band - Stay (Wasting Time)

i could do this for hours. let me know if i'm on the right track

and you have to throw in Thunderstruck. that is mandatory.

Someone suggested Coldplay's Paradise earlier. I was at a wedding last week that played this version during the bridal party's entry. it's been stuck in my head ever since

If you like the Beach Boys, listen to this and tell me what you think

Thanks for all the suggestions!

That band does sound like the Beach Boys...same vibe

And I do like Silversun Pickups...lead voices sound similar to me

Beach Boys - God Only Knows

My sister(MOH) and ringbearer are walking to this song. LOVE that song.

Yeah my brother will be "dj" for me so I'll tell him to play stuff appropriate to the overall mood of the crowd. If everyone is just hanging out chatting, some mellow Pearl Jam songs or other 90s grunge, etc wouldn't be horrible(imo).

I want a wide variety so that my guests are free to go through playlist and play anything they like.

NO CHICKEN DANCE at my wedding either.

how long will the reception be?

make friends with www.video2mp3.net just ensure the tracks are clean and complete before adding them to the mix.

there is no way in hell i'd let my friends choose anything at my reception. good god. that would be a disaster!

4-5 hours tops. We are getting married and having reception in same spot...so people will be walking up to reception area right after we are married and start hanging out while me and groom and wedding party take pics.

Well if all the songs on my playlist have been added by myself and the groom...I won't have a problem with it. I want my guests to have a good time. They all will have traveled to be there. They deserve to have a good time. Thankfully, most of us have same taste in music(only older people there will be our parents).

I wish I would have added a line on the response card in the invitation that said "song requests".

I'll email some of my friends as well and ask them what songs they want to hear there as well(within reason of course...thrash metal isn't very romantic )

We had an 80s band. It was pretty fun - especially since most everyone else I know had motown / R&B bands.

I love classic rock, but I don't think "Free Byrd" is very condusive to wedding festivities.

I still can't believe nobody has suggested this Ronnie Milsap gem.

For real though... Great offerings from people so far, and I know this song suggestion may be a bit out of your "90's" range (song is from early 00's), but I think it would fit great with other songs on the list ---- Alakaline Trio - Blue Carolina

If you're going to recommend Eva Cassidy make it Over The Rainbow -- although I admit I don't know what it has to do with weddings

That will be the only line dance I'm having. NO ONE out here knows the freeze, been to couple weddings in AZ and DJ always looks at me weird when I request it. But yeah...it is already on the playlist.

I will of course have sappy love songs to slow dance to.

This song is on the must play list for sure...

This was big when my generation was getting married. Have it played for your folks:

The Carpenters "We've Only Just Begun"

My best wishes to you and your husband-to-be, nurse. Many happy years.

ETA: This song written by a fellow Iona alum, Don McLean, was popular back then and was a hit by Perry Como. This is Don McLean's version:

Don McLean "And I Love You So"

I will def try to find some older stuff for my parents (me and my Dad both love Beach Boys songs so I will likely have a few on the playlist...will be perfect for location as well). But I can't play the Carpenters....makes me feel like I'm grocery shopping(I always heard that music in the grocery stores)

I will put some motown music and older country as well. I love Al Green's "Let's Stay Together".

Thanks Iona!
