I think Jazz is underrated. REAL Hip Hop is also underrated. I like some country but it isn't underrated.

There are lots of hip-hop acts who play their own music and if you don't think that a great deal of the lyrics in hip-hop are complex, then you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Also, the truly great DJ's and music samplers are pretty great -- that is hard to do as well. Listen to the layers of samples going on in Paul's Boutique. It's amazing, especially how it all plays off one another.
