Currently, James LaBrie and Matt Shadows are probably my favorite and deserve to be mentioned in this thread.
As for the top 5 classic metal voices in my opinion in no order:
Dio
Dickenson
Halford
Who cares after that

Replace Ray Alder with John Arch, the first and best Fates Warning singer, and replace King Diamond with Michael Kiske of Helloween. And replace Bruce Dickinson with Tony Harnell of TNT.
ETA: If we're talking currently, Ralf Scheepers should be in there somewhere near the top.

Based off of pure vocal talent and singing ability...
1. M. Shadows (incredible range and voice)
2. Corey Taylor (pure aggression and power)
3. Sully Erna (not metal, but a very powerful, masculine voice and a pretty good singer as well)
4. Ivan Moody (you may not like FFDP, and may not consider them metal, but this guy has an amazing voice)
5. Lajon Weatherspoon (again, Sevendust is not metal, but this guy's voice is near perfect)
That's just on vocal talent and versatility. If you want to get into hardcore metal then you have Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), Jesse Leach (Killswitch), Howard Jones (Killswitch), Phil Labonte (All That Remains),
