I have family in Krotz Springs, I remember we went to visit MawMaw that weekend, I was 11 then.
Back then there was only one bridge across the Atchafalaya, and it was a narrow two-lane.
Traffic was backed up at least 3 miles before the bridge. Later that weekend we went down to the river because we heard there were hippies skinny dipping across the way.
I guess those hippies were lost, because the festival was about 15 miles upriver on the east side.

Was there. Music was at night. Slept during the day. Wild time.

very interesting-never heard of this before
Researched a little who actually played because of venue and schedule changes and came up with this playlist of what might have been played in 1971- enjoy

Rolling Stone
Promoter seems to have been son of real estate developer on Westbank. Carol Sue Ave and Terrytown are named after some family members. Festival headquarters were in Gretna.
