growing up as a teenager in the mid/late 90's Master P and the No Limit Soldiers were the undisputed kings of rap. Cash Money was a close second later on, but Master P and No Limit records took over the rap game... and just in time bc the east and west coast labels basically ruined each other.
when Master P and TRU released the album True, it was all over. He followed that with Ice Cream Man and Ghetto D
C-Loc, Big Ed, Mystikal, Skullduggery, Fiend (mr. whomp whomp), Silk, C-Murder. The label was stacked! You know you had it good when Snoop Dogg joins your record label when it was in the early stages of its decline.
Dr. Dre could of likely saved the west coast during No Limits run but he wisely laid low... likely in fear of his life Dre simply let Master P do his thing before making his comeback.
Basically, I stopped listening to rap once No Limit became watered down and Master P put his time and money elsewhere.

the good side bad side album that came out later is pretty good too, i have all his stuff on disc in my safe, master p is the last don

bobbyray21 delivers again. You get a lot of flak here on the Music Board, but your threads are easily the most entertaining.
I liked Master P in high school, but I can admit there was some state pride involved. It was good music for getting fricked up/getting hyped up back in the day. I don't think it's quality music that "passes the test of time," so to speak. Frankly, when I listen to it now, it sounds silly.
