That dude should go hang out with Jason Collins.

Did you listen to his other stuff? You've seriously got to be trolling to think he's not good.

you're on your own though...taking on the 2 Chainz Army on here is an impossible task, though I am a fan of his

I found another 2 Chainz song y'all might enjoy. This one is called "Crack."
In this song, 2 Chainz glorifies his days slangin' crack cocaine. He then goes into an analogy between his time in the trap and his current profession as a rapper. In this analogy the music is equivalent to the crack, and his fans are equivalent to crack fiends!
Enjoy!
Swagger jackers, take note of these lyrics:

Why do you need my explanation? Why do you care about my opinion? If you want to study sociology, go for it bud....

I can't believe chumps are still arguing against the greatness that is 2 Chainz.

i know, and then you got the one guy wondering why 2 chainz don't like poor people, like a rapper, business guy or whoever with money is gonna like poor people, that's the whole reason you work to get rich so you can enjoy the good life and have some separation. i guess 2 chainz is supposed to give all his money away to people with less than him.

I don't need your explanation. You opined on a statement that I made that was intended for someone else.
You volunteered the opinion that it was a problem. I'm curious what your reasoning on that is. You don't have to explain yourself.

you are failing at your attempt to come across as intelligent.

That's not my attempt. The intention was to have a discussion, which I now regret.
As I predicted in an earlier post, you have not addressed any of the issues I raised, instead you just try to attack me personally. And you are failing in that attempt.

Exactly. You can't expect Bill Gates to hang out with someone who works the drive thru window at McDonalds. That's basic sociology.

There really is not one exact question. I've raised a host of issues throughout this thread, and they've been ignored for the most part.
The overriding issue for me is that 2 Chainz is part of a music genre that is part of a subculture that I have grown uncomfortable with over the years. This is my truth.
I cannot respect a 35 year old man spreading the messages through music (that is mostly consumed by young minds) that he does. I'm willing to give leeway in my judgment to some of the younger artists, because I can relate to being young and making mistakes & having a warped attitude, but this man is 5 years older than me. Sometimes you have to draw a line in life, and this is where I stand on the issue.
If you look at the demographics of people who consume the most rap & hip hop, then look at statistics of violent crime, you will find a lot of overlap. Does that prove causation? No. But I think sometimes there is a causal relationship (to what degree, I cannot say). I base this on my own experience and the statistical data. This subculture glorifies and downright encourages homicide & violent crime, among other things that are uniformly agreed upon as ills of society. A few examples:
Wooh Da Kid ft. Waka Flocka Flame & Bo Deal - Body Bag
Most controversial rap lyrics thread...whacha got?
Jay-Z - Hard Knock Life
This is the attitude expressed in most rap - it's all about ME, MY SITUATION, frick YOU, frick YOUR SITUATION.
So where does ethics come into play here? It's really an anything goes attitude. So, if you or a loved one ends up mugged and murdered, what's your reaction? Hey - n**** got to improve his situation, right?
I have just grown to find these types of lyrics disgusting. But, I'm really not out to put down music that other people enjoy. And, as I said, I'm conflicted in that still like other aspects of the music, so I think it's something interesting to discuss.
I admit, I absolutely made a mistake entering into this thread though. I had a false idea of you based on some statements you made in another thread. I enjoy this type of discussion with reasonable people, but I avoid it if I think there is a chance it will devolve into insults and personal attacks. I really have no desire to do that.
No. I don't think there is anything wrong with making money. Although, I do think it matters how you make it. I don't respect companies like this. Or men like this. And I never implied anything with regard to what he should do with his money. You completely made that up, just as you made up 2 musical artists that you supposed I liked in order to form some bizarre insult. This whole thing is almost too ridiculous to respond to.
Look, I just find it disturbing and odd that a 35 year old black man makes music for young people, and in his lyrics, he derides the poor. Again, as you look at poverty statistics and violent crime statistics & demographics, it really is just something that I don't like, and I don't respect.
We can just agree to disagree on this.
