Bayou Country
I was born in Louisiana on the bayou manchac
papa was a trapper from napoleonville
mama was a dark eyed Cajun woman
if I'd listened to my mama I'd be there still
Took my schoolin down in Morgan city
used to go to dances in abbeyville
Fell in love with a lady from New Orleans
hadn't been for her I'd be there still
Want my, bayou country
smell of magnolias bring you to your knees
Fais do dos and Cajun women
Spanish moss hangin from the big oak trees
Travelled back and forth across this country
met a lot of people and I made a lot of friends
Got the feelin of the swamp land runnin in my blood
goin back home but I don't know when
California's boilin detroits burnin
whole lot of trouble in Chicago town
Nothin very pretty bout New York City
Mississippi take me back to higher ground
Well I gotta get back to the bayou country
smell of magnolias bring you to your knees
Fais do dos and Cajun women
Spanish moss hangin from the big oak trees

JJ Grey - Mississippi
If you remember, he didn't play 'on Fire' that night; now he does it as an encore.
I hope to see him again next month in Atlanta .. a songwriters circle with Anders Osborne et al.

but not quite as funky as that night in the Varsity.
Wait you were there the last time they played the Varsity? How did we not meet up again?

Allman Brothers Band - Every Hungry Woman
Bob Dylan - Union Sundown
CCR - Cross Tie Walker
The Doors - Roadhouse Blues
Grateful Dead - One More Saturday Night
Jimi Hendrix - Bleeding Heart
Stevie Ray Vaughan - The House Is A Rockin'
I think that a group of people could dig those songs.

Not the last time they played. It was a couple of years ago. HeyPaul was the first OTer I met IRL.
Are you going to the TT/ AA show at HOB-NO? I'm making that one with Hogs for Cause the next day.
