Kingston Trio from my Youth

I turned 80 a few days ago, and although I told everyone I did not want presents, my younger brother presented me a gift. He found my Kingston Trio collection in his attic - having been in storage for over 50 years. I thought these albums were long lost (my mother went on a house cleaning binge from time to time.)
I've inspected them, and they are not warped very badly. I don't have a turntable, but my daughter has said she will get me one. The KT was the first music concert I attended - at the LSU Ag Barn in 1960, my freshman year at LSU.

The Kingston Trio - "It Was A Very Good Year" (original version)
Discussing his earliest musical influences in a 2001 Rolling Stone interview, Bob Dylan remembered: "There were other folk-music records, commercial folk-music records, like those by the Kingston Trio. I never really was an elitist. Personally, I liked the Kingston Trio. I could see the picture... the Kingston Trio were probably the best commercial group going, and they seemed to know what they were doing."
In his autobiography Chronicles, Dylan added: "I liked the Kingston Trio. Even though their style was polished and collegiate, I liked most of their stuff anyway."

Congrats Tiger!
The beautiful thing about music is it can instantly transport you back to a time and place like it was yesterday.
I hope all the memories flood back for you.

My dad is 81 this month. I’ve been to two KT concerts and grew up on their music.

Very cool album collection.
No need to hang down your head and cry anymore after getting them back.

Sloop John B
Inspired the Beach Boys version even though been around Nassau Bahama since 1916
Al Jardine played KT version for Brian Wilson and it took off from there.

Happy 80th!
They should be worth a Greenback Dollar or two!

Bob Shane died in 2020
In 2003 Bob Shane was still playing with the new Kingston Trio

Hey blueridge tiger,
Just out of curiosity, have you ever seen the movie ‘A Mighty Wind’? If not, you might find it humorous and entertaining.

I am 61 and love The Kingston Trio. "Scotch and Soda" one of my all time favorite songs.

I was courting a young lady who eventually became my wife when that song was on the charts. Naturally, scotch and soda became our drink. (Now, for me, it's scotch on the rocks).
