Title explains it all. Which one would you take if you could only have one and why? I honestly can't make up my mind on the subject. State your case.

Transmission is my favorite JD song and Disorder is a killer opener.

I love and own both.

I downloaded and didn't get Transmission :/ I only got the 10 songs that were on the original record. New Dawn Fades is my favorite track but I like the more ominous feeling of Closer as a whole. It adds to the feeling that Ian meant literally everything he was singing. I haven't been familiar with JD very long but I can't get enough of them now.

Have you ever seen the movie about Ian Curtis by chance? I think it's called control. I might check it out soon.

It's very genuine and very much for the fans of Joy Division. Do not watch it with someone who has never heard of Joy Division. It's great.

Is Love Will tear Us Apart not on an album?

Closer for me. I appreciate that it's just darker, and gloomier. I think it's a more complete album than Unknown Pleasures.

It's on Substance, which is I guess a small compilation of the Joy Division singles.

I always found it odd that Love Will Tear Us Apart never appeared on their proper albums. Just like how True Faith never appeared on any of New Order's proper albums. I think it also was released on a New Order compilation also titled Substance.

The Smiths did the same thing with How Soon is Now?. We see it on the US version of Meat Is Murder, but it is not on the original UK version. Instead you can find it on any of the 3 million greatest hits compilations that the Smiths released.

Joy Division/New Order released a lot of their material as singles only,

Love Will Tear Us Apart was released as a single only right after Curtis's death. Then Closer was released shortly after. Joy Division actually released a few of their more popular songs as just singles. A lot of them ended up on that Substance. Peter Hook's favorite Joy Division song, Atmosphere, was originally a France only release.

True Faith was just released only on NO's Substance as many greatest hits albums do. New Order also only released Temptation, Everything's Gone Green, and ceremony as a single also. They re-recorded Temptation for Substance.

I know some people love to collect their original singles releases 7", 12" remixes.

I'm starting to lean that way. You could probably make the argument that Closer was one of the original species of Goth rock.

Idk if I could call it more complete tho. Just because both albums are great front to back.
