At one time he stated he wasn't making electro music for human consumption.
I didn't know how to take that.

I take it as he’s likely rich as frick and completely free from the constraints of a band/record label type situation. Guy clearly is doing what interests him currently.

That’s because he was taken out of context, and he clarified what he said later on. He meant that he’s not writing music for a specific audience in mind. He’s just writing about what he’s interested in.

It is JF who went full retard and started making electro music. And that shite isn't even bearable
I’m not a fan of all of his electronic stuff, but you are missing out if you dismiss all of it. Letur Lefru is some of his best work IMO and I enjoyed PBX as well as Enclosure.

There was a four or five year period where he didnt do a thing beside paint and do heroin. Wires got crossed along the way no doub
And yet he came back to make all that great music with with the Peppers.
Nothing he's said in interviews would allude to that either.
He's just a true 'artist'.

One Hot Minute is the only garbage album but that was because it was written differently and without the same collaboration. I’m listening to By The Way now and it’s incredible. Californication was ever better to me. Stadium Arcadium had a different sound to it but still incredible. They have a ton of awesome b-sides in there as well. I like the Getaway but I agree Im with You was a slide for sure. I hope they keep making music though. I still get feels listening to them.

By the Way and SA are their crowning achievements IMO with Californication probably having the biggest impact on their careers (or BSSM) but I think Californication introduced them to a whole new generation of listeners just as they were peaking. Hard to beat those 3 back to back to back albums for any band, ever.

I like Omission and Carvel very much

sadly his output since leaving has been forgettable
His output had been phenomenal since he left. He just doesn't care to make music to please the masses anymore.

I love the way John and Josh harmonize on that one. Frankly, they made a lot of really good music together between Shadows Collide with People, A Sphere in the Heart of Silence, and both Ataxia albums

You were all over the place here, but also pretty accurate - fair to say that BSSM got people's attention - and then they really floundered without Frusciante (IMHO) - I listen to the "Dani" trilogy all the time - like that's a thing at my house.
So, because of this post of yours, I'm listening to the "Dani" ALBUM trilogy today - starting with Californication - the first half of that is badass - I don't know what else to tell people. And, I doubt I've ever listened to By the Way as an album all the way through, so I'm really looking forward to that one.
(ETA: And I'm not skipping Hump de Bump on SA this time - just for completeness. However, it does keep SA from being considered one of the greatest albums of all time, IMHO.)

It's just odd that Klinghoffer tries to mimic everything about Frusciante, from hair to clothes to guitar to playing style. Just be your own dude.

To be fair - Josh is a lot younger - still in his 30s and it was very much a mentor/protégé situation - he was hired at 28 to replace his idol/mentor - I'm cutting him some slack on that.

Yea, that one is probably the worst song on those 3 albums.

+1
Funny enough, it's Dani California that I really don't like off the SA set.

I don’t get the hate. It’s a funky song. Not my favorite but not bad.
