Would love to know everyone’s top 5

This is hard because there are so many. But my 5 favorites...

Sam Stone
Donald and Lydia
Christmas in Prison
Mexican Home
Lake Marie

How can I leave off Angel from Montgomery?!?! Your Flag Decal Won't Get You into Heaven Anymore, Illegal Smile, Hello In there, Souvenirs, That's the Way the World Goes Round, Grandpa was a Carpenter....

5 is way too few for Prine.

Interesting tidbit-Both John Prine and Don Everly both had their ashes scattered in the Green River in Kentucky..

They say Prine's soul rolled on up to the Rochester dam.

I always thought of John Prine as the Mark Twain of American music. Love that guy.

Yep, agreed, but with a touch of Bob Dylan, circa Slow Train Coming. Coincidently, Mark Knopfler played on Slow Train Coming.
Thanks for the post, this was my first time hearing this great song!

At the beach in Indiana
I was nine years old
Heard Little Richard singing "Tutti Frutti"
From the top of a telphone pole
I wasn't hurtin' nobody
I wasn't hurtin' no one

This part in particular screams Mark Knopfler to me

Bruised Orange (Chain of Sorrow)
An absolutely incredible song. It can bring tears to the eyes in the right mood.

I hear you. The hard earned wisdom… the regret… the love and hope for another. It’s all in there. I also love the saxophone in this song. It helps bring the emotion in the lyrics to life.
