Which do you prefer?
The Trio was so much more artistic than his mainstream stuff, but wasn't near as popular.

I don't fricking get it. John Mayer has the skill and ear to be one of the greatest, but he's too worried about his own d*ck and hit songs.

Trio is John trying to make what he considers good music. John mainstream is John selling out for the ladies and dollars. Can't blame him either way, I guess. IMHO, anyone who prefers the teenage girl shite should not be allowed to post on the music board. JMHO.

If you think John Mayer doesn't like or stand behind the music he puts on his albums, you are dumb. Read an interview with the guy. He's obsessed with pop music. Sure, he likes the bluesier stuff as well, but don't think for a second that his non-trio stuff is lesser quality music from his perspective.
