Just wrapped up the first evening of a 3 night run at the Eastern in ATL. Only one I got the hall pass to go to.

I had never been in that venue before, but man it's a cool place to catch some music.

Always cracks me up to see a Grateful Dead cover band draw such a crowd (sold out), but they are a nice group of musicians.

Hope someone else on here will also enjoy!

They sell places out because they slay.

Seen them at least 10 times and will continue to see them as long as they keep playing. Always amazed at how good they are and how new and exciting the music is with these musicians. This is modern Jerry and Merl type dead

I’d choose JRAD over Dead & Slow every single time

No doubt JRAD > Dead and Co. Really fun take on the music!

The other one was quite spacey, closing with Ripple was a nice send off.

It was. I went to Fri and Sat. I thought Friday was a bit too spacy at times. There were moments that felt like they were just forcing it to get to the next song. Sat felt a little more natural, if that makes sense.

I will say though, the way they play the intro and outro to the The Other One was heavy. Taken out of context, it could have easily been thrown into a hard rock genre(not quite metal, but pretty heavy).

If there's one thing that the Eastern does better than any other venue around, they get the sound right, and part of that is it's never too loud. Every show I've seen there, it seems like the mix is perfect. It's loud enough, but I can turn and actually say something to someone next to me without having to scream in their ear.
