There are not many details other than an email address. This is only for those who went Saturday.

quote:

The organizers of Jazz Fest will now refund your money if you had tickets for Saturday’s rain shortened event.

If you would like to inquire about a refund just e mail: jftickets@nojazzfest.com.

Organizers have not released any information on plans to refund tickets for Sunday, but we’ll keep you posted if that changes.

UPDATE: They replied to my email with the following:

quote:

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the uniquely shortened Saturday, April 30 event day of Jazz Fest 2016. We are currently devising the best possible way to handle this unusual situation in the most efficient manner, so don’t worry, we have not forgotten about you! We will get back to each and every inquiry as soon as we have more information.

Thank you so much for your patience!

Props to them for making this right. 3 tickets cost me $210. We were there for 15 minutes by the time the rain put everyone inside. That's a lot of bones for 15 mins

Yeah...but it rained, and they cancelled things, thus not holding up the promise of "rain or shine."

exactly. Rain or shine means the show will go on regardless of rain. When the show is cancelled, that's something different. I could be wrong on this, but that's how I've always understood it.

That's a frick ton of money to lose even if only 50% ask for money back. Wonder what if any impact this has on the lineup next year.

They have to. Coordinating an outdoor event in southern La comes with great risk.

I'm guessing hard ticket or receipt of purchase with printed ticket. The bar code will let them know which day the ticket was used for.

I agree it's a tall task

Nothing. I've researched for anything, and there's still not a peep. I guess they are working out the logistics

Hopefully this wasn't some fraudulent appeasement that they do not intend to honor. I'm $240 in the hole for a show I did not get to see

I dropped $140 on two tickets. I got in for about an hour before they closed, my friend didn't even make it into the gate. I'm bracing myself for having to make phone calls and talk to customer service regarding the unused ticket. I have the two had copies and my CC receipt, but I'm planning for the worst.

Saturday, April 30
Jazz Fest Ticket Offer
Offer Expires May 31, 2016

Given the uniquely shortened day of programming on Saturday, April 30 at the Jazz Fest 2016, the Festival is offering the option to general admission ticket purchasers who attended the event that day and who qualify (as clarified below) to seek if they so choose a 50% return of the face value price of that ticket.

Tickets purchased for Jazz Fest help support the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation that owns the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. The Foundation uses the proceeds from Jazz Fest for year-round activities in the areas of education, economic development and cultural enrichment. If you elect not to seek a reimbursement, we thank you for your support of Jazz Fest and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation.

To redeem this offer, Festivalgoers will either need to be in possession of the purchased ticket that was scanned for entry on April 30; or, if not in possession of the ticket, to have purchased the ticket through Ticketmaster and to have used that ticket on April 30. (The ticketing system is capable of confirming the purchase of the missing ticket and qualifying its use.)

NOTE: Any ticket scanned on April 30 that was subsequently used to attend the Festival on May 1 is not eligible for this offer. Discount and complimentary tickets are also not eligible for this offer.

REDEMPTION INSTRUCTIONS:
• For Ticketmaster purchasers you will be contacted directly by Ticketmaster via email if you have been pre-qualified for this offer. Please check your inbox for the email account associated with your purchase for further instructions.

• For purchases from all other sources (Smoothie King Center box office, Jazz Fest box office, etc.) AND you are in possession of your ticket please visit www.nojazzfest.com/april30 and follow the instructions. You will be asked to upload a copy of the ticket.

Please email jftickets@nojazzfest.com with any urgent questions.

50% is better than nothing

I think it's a bit of an underhanded move to play the charity card when this is not a charitable NPO. It's insulting and pisses me off that it's only half. This isn't Hogs for the Cause in which the purpose of the event is to raise money for kids with cancer. This is a long running for profit op that's most likely donating a very small fraction (I am admittedly speculating) of proceeds to some charities as a PR move.

Screw them

They put on half a day of the festival so you only get half of the ticket price back, seems pretty reasonable to me.

You serious Clark? How many people paid for tickets to see the opening acts of the opening acts? That's equivalent to paying half price to a football game to watch the LSU band play pregame or the who dat chant and then going home.

Come on now

Regardless I would be ok with this if they wouldn't be trying to con everyone into thinking they are a charitable organization. That's what makes the 50% offer infuriating

first half would be similar and I guess the charity thing is somewhat of a con but whatever, they are still offering a 50% refund.

I love many of the opening acts. George Porter Jr. & Running Pardners played at like noon this year i think. But i don't think it really matters what people wanted to see, just saying that i don't see the a major issue since they put on roughly a half day of the festival (I don't know the exact timing or anything) and are offering 50% refund.
