Nobody is denying that Nashville isn't what it used to be. That's clear. But there's still good stuff coming out of there. In fact, Nashville's best talent is in clubs that AREN'T downtown. Nashville is actually its own worst enemy.

It just gets old hearing people complain all the time about how shitty Nashville is just because of what's on the radio. Same as Texas country. There's some god awful Texas country also. There's no perfect music town.

It's pop music...

Pop is the most prevalent because it's what most people like. I f'king hate Lady Gaga but evidently she has a large audience who thinks she is all that, but it just isn't my thing. I can't fault someone for their particular taste though.

When there is money to be made, almost everyone will go with the mass appeal.

really? You come on here proclaiming some huge booking but can't spill the name. When it breaks and people are wondering why the hell you bragged about that, you jump their arse and pretend to know much more than anyone and play it to where anyone who disagrees with you is an idiot.

That's "what the frick I'm talkin about"

I don't intend to shite on the city or its local bar scene. It is actually pretty damn solid and a lot of fun with solid music. Hell Old Crow Medicine Show came out of there. When I say Nashville in these types of discussion I am only referring to the radio pop country sound.

a lot of fun, bro. I have been to see some marginal musicians who put out some simplistic songs and had a blast.

... saw Corey Smith again last night. Had a blast again last night.

There's Nashville pop I like and some I don't like. There's Texas Country and Carolina Country I like, and some I don't like.

But I always like a good crowd (Big Freedia, Cowboy Mouth).

Don't agree Cotton. Gary Allan has made a comeback, writes most of his own songs, and is anti-Nashville machine. His last 2 albums have been bad arse.

Yeah, we all were to an extent, particularly in the 70's. I remember sneaking around listening to a few select disco songs and a some skating rink music....

I'm sorry...I've honestly given these guys a try. But they're terrible. And I'm all about country that ain't on the radio, it's pretty much all I listen to, but AA sucks.

Turnpike's my fave <3

If you like Josh Abbott, you should really be listening to Randy Rogers Band. Randy did it first...and better.

As for AA...I've gone on the record as saying BJ's voice is NOT my favorite...however, lyrically and musically I like them a lot. Plus, the live show's a lot of fun.
