I would not argue anything that you said in that post.
I knew a guy with Columbia who said that for most bands if they were still making money on their albums after the 3 rd album everyone celebrated. Acts like the Stones, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith were rarities. The best bands had maybe 10 years of relevance at best. Most fizzled out by album 3 or at around 5 or 6 years.

Ghost’s newest album Skeleta is pretty awesome if you like 80s style rock reimagined. Just saw them in Houston and they were fantastic.

I was there. It was the best show that I have been to since probably Metallica in the mid 90's in Baytown towards the end of the black album tour.

Thirdly, Deftones would be a far more apt comparison

quote:I always heard it was the 2nd album that was key. The first album with original songs - if it was a success then a 2nd was rushed out to maintain the career momentum, But for many acts that wasn't enough time to come up with new material so the album would be half covers. Sophomore Jinx, aka New York Dolls Syndrome

Thus the third album. Second albums from bands with monster debuts tended to make some money, but unless the third album kicked arse they tended to be done.

New rock bands, from the last 25 years, represent less than 2 percent of the top 500 most streamed acts on Spotify.
Rock is still thriving and amazing in live concerts and festivals. Popular music in every genre from rap to country is horrid repetition of mumble lyrics and identical beats and chord structure

Yea, that song is prime Deftones. Very similar (in a good way) to Goon Squad.
