In other words, is it a given that an advanced species would eventually invent music?

Would intelligent aliens have a form of music?

To answer this, one would need to know why it is that humans like music. What did we evolve into a species that has very strong and visceral reactions to hearing sounds arranged in a certain way?

I honestly don't know the answers to those questions, but I think they are really really interesting questions.

Knowledge is not wisdom.
Wisdom is not truth.
Truth is not beauty.
Beauty is not love.
Love is not music.
Music is THE BEST.”

To answer the OP, only figs like music so if you think being a fig is "evolved" then yeah it's "inevitable" or whatever.

I was actually just googling around on it and found a few technical journal articles.

Thrills, chills, frissons, and skin orgasms: toward an integrative model of transcendent psychophysiological experiences in music

Why does music make us feel
