Kind of, for his genre. He showed that you could absolutely put on a show AND have good country music. In his prime he was thought to be a bit too progressive for the old school country folks but looking back he was still a very "cowboy-like" artist. He arrived on the scene when country music had become pretty stale with people like Barbara Mandrel and Keith Whitley topping the charts. Garth's first album in '89 kind of set a new tone for country music and then No Fences in '90 blew the doors off the genre.

Yeah, I never said that. The Stones and Zeppelin were taking their genres to another level the same way Garth did. They all belong in the same sentence right behind the Beatles because those cats changed music forever.

He actually wrote or co-wrote a large portion of his bigger songs. You're not too good at this either.

Ok, I've pled my case enough here. Try to keep an open mind when it comes to such subjective things like music. Think of all the artists that have come and gone in the history of music. Garth Brooks sits at #2 in albums sold. #2. Despite what the snobs say, he's been doing something right.

#2 in the US. Much lower down the list worldwide.
America generally has poor taste in music compared to the rest of the world. Case in point: hip hop and country top the charts here. It's pathetic.
