Is David Bowie the most adaptive singer of all time?

Was successful with psychedelic music in the 60s (Space Oddity), 70s Rock n roll (Suffragette City), 80s new wave (Let's Dance), and 90s alternative and industrial rock (I'm Afraid of Americans). I don't think there's ever been a singer who's been able to span 40 years changing styles while still being so successful.
