I was never a bluegrass person, but I like putting on a bluegrass playlist and letting it roll all day.

Really intrigued by this comment. The International Bluegrass Music Association’s voting members—including pro and amateur musicians, promoters, educators, broadcasters, and fans—awarded Billy Strings both entertainer and guitar player of the year in 2021. Since then, we’ve shown some disillusionment because his commercial success hasn’t created a tide that lifts all boats. Who are some bluegrass musicians you’d recommend we listen to if we enjoy Billy Strings?

Pretty small genre, so, ok?

Just look at any music service playlist similar to Billy Strings and bands like Leftover Salmon, Bluesky Greensky, Infamous Stringdusters. My taste for bluegrass actually started when I started to listen to into Americana playlist on music services.

Steve Earle "The Mountain"

I'm not a big bluegrass fan, but a do like some specific songs. The Mountain by Steve Earle is one of my favorite songs from any genre.

Other great flat pickers include Tony Rice, Norman Blake, Doc Watson, Bryan Sutton

I used to know an old guy that lived completely off the grid in NE Oklahoma named Bobby Trapp. He won the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival (Winfield, KS - goat bg fest) Flat Picking contest several years in a row. Dude was as good as anyone in the world. Unfortunately he had a bad meth addiction and he just kinda withered away.
His son Thomas is very good too and has some stuff out there. Might look on FB

There is no "best". Billy is in a class by himself. As is Tommy Emmanuel, Matuez Kowalowski (classical), etc, etc.
