I remember seeing them on Ed Sullivan when I was 12. If someone asked me for a sample of their music today I would give them these (it would probably be different tomorrow or 10 minutes from now):
"Rain"
"Girl"
"Norwegian Wood"
"I'm Looking Through You"
"Because"
"In My Life"
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
"A Day In The Life"
"Oh! Darling"
"Hey Jude"
"Revolution"
Good list. Nice sample.

Those, too.
You know, it's interesting to me that young people don't seem to really understand how new and groundbreaking their music was at the time when as far as popular music is concerned. A young rock and roll band writing their own stuff and, within short order, beginning to experiment with the form.

Hey Jude would be the first song I'd play. It's one of those songs that everyone can love. Same goes for Let It Be, Come Together, Something, In My Life.
Stuff like I Am the Walrus, A Day in the Life, Tomorrow Never Knows, etc. are for the hardcore fans.

Why not go with the one most people heard first back then :
Love Me Do
Also :
I Feel Fine
Come Together
If I Needed Someone

Why not start with their early "floppy hair" catchy tunes.? Twist and Shout, Love Me Do, I Wanna Hold Your Hand. Then work up from there.

When you say someone younger…how much younger? It makes a world a difference. The songs I liked as a child/teen/adult are vastly different.

This is what I'm going to do with my kid. She loves you and I want to hold your hand at 5 or 6 were definitely the launching point for the music I listen to today

Before my kids were teenagers they knew Rubber Soul by heart.

My nephew's kids are 7 and 4. I played this for them and they loved it immediately. Now, he's having to buy Beatles CDs for them.
Here's an interesting video on how kids react to them... LINK
