How come rock guys lose their creativity much soooner than jazz & blues guys?

They spend more time touring and less time just having free jam sessions on drugs.

I agree. I have often found it very hard to write rock music when you're not sad, lonely, or pissed off.

Jazz Fusion is not the same as "rock" music. Fusion is a sub-genre and a pretty small niche one at that. Most rock lacks those prolonged acid jam sessions, or at least has since the early 70's. Being a famous rock musician lends little time for composing new music. Throw in the fact that much of jazz is without vocals, it makes sense. Generally, the first thing that goes "stale" for a popular rock artist is the lyrics. Lyrics being the most difficult part of music writing isn't necessary in Jazz and is almost rare. It's easy to constantly churn out riffs when you don't have to worry about composing them around a story or message that you are attempting to convey.

They are completely different medium with completely different challengers facing the songwriter.

I like the blues, but who was the last innovative blues performer? Robert Cray? It has all become formulaic and sounds the same to me these days. I will say that some of the "blues" that is played on Bluesville would have been considered rock just a few years ago.

Once again, you are listening to shitty rock.

Rock tunes often a unique but catchy angle or hook. Not all tunesmiths can keep doing that over a lifetime. Plus if they do write something that cashes in, they may not have to anymore.

Jazz and blues musicians dont often make the big hits and they have to keep going to make a living. Jazz is an obscure form with many ways to go which the layman wont even notice. Blues by contrast has a very distinct form so I dont think they really keep their creativity they might even stop writing and just play their earlier stuff for a really long time.
