Still haven't seen a show in the Sugar Mill. I've heard nothing but good things though.

im jealous rutiger. i'm on call this weekend and cant make it to NOLA. i remember posting with you few weeks about this show. let me know how the show is. the few new singles from blackstar new album seem legit. but if they just played hte entire 1st album, i figured it would be worth the price..."1,2,3, mos def and talib kweli"
i know TigerWise will be ther tonite. he been fricking with me all week bout me bitching out for the show...10 years ago, iw ould have quit my job for this show - now i got real bills and a career, sucks. the beauty of college - i miss it
have fun!

Concert was the tits. Galactic was better than Blackstar, IMO. The line to get in was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen, but Galactic started over an hour late so no biggie. I'd say about 1/3rd of the crowd left when Galactic finished.

as a huge black star fan, the concert was literrally the best one i've ever been too.
Galactic was excellent also.
What was the name of the band that played after hot 8 but before galactic?

I enjoyed myself. Only real complaint was the sound issues during the first 20 minutes of blackstar. Otherwise they were sick. Galactic was good, but when did they go from a funk band to a bar rock band? Corey glover sounded awesome though. The band before them was donald harrisons band, no idea what its called. Hey Pockey way with the mardi gras indians was pretty cool. Saw some dude complaining about the venue, i had no issues. Walked right in, got drinks when i wanted.

Pretty sure I was standing infront you btw
I remember seeing a white biz Markie shirt.
Sound difficulties did suck in the beginning but they made up with it when they did the top 40 stuff.
Corey glover and ya boy on the trumbone were killing it for galactic though!
I think his name is Corey Henry or something. I know he's in rebirth

That show fricking blew.
First time in the Sugar Mill and I will never go back. The sound in that place fricking sucks. I wanted to ask for my money back cause it was so bad.
No collaboration between the artists.
worst four hours of my Jazz Fest.
Sorry to bitch if you enjoyed it but I don't know how you could with the sound system and the acoustics in that place. I sold my Primus tickets for the next night it sucked so bad for me.

Outside of the mic problems during blackstar, i had no sound issues, but it was a big cavernous venue so i could see how the sound could suck in certain spots.

My biggest complaint of the show was this, but i still had an awesome night.

I thought the venue sucked and I didn't go to Primus the following night either b/c of it.
I got there right before Galactic started and even though I've seen them about a half dozen shows this year already I thought the jammed.
Blackstar was great even though the sound was jacked up. My favorite part was when they did bed time stories. You could tell Mos really likes NOLA. I really thought they could have done more of a tribute to MCA, they kind of kept teasing it but never really went off. Good show by the artist and the ampersands people can go frick themselves.

yeah i remember going to get a drink midway through galactic and i passed right infront of a chick taking a HUGGGE hit, then you were behind her
i was center of the stage, maybe 30-40 feet back

Yup. That was me. Im really surprised at all the venue and promoter hate. i guess i got there early, had a good spot and never really moved except to get drinks. I burned the whole time and had zero cop issues. And i was just in front of the soundboard and had no hearing issues.
