I said it was ok. It doesn't make me want to bang my head into a wall being the criteria for "ok."

When I first heard "Dirt Road" I was kind of into it. I was like "Oh, that country song doesn't sound so awful".
Then he started rapping.
Then he started rapping.

I've never even heard of Jason Aldean. Looks like I'm better off not knowing!

My wife and daughter listen to country sometimes. It had just started playing when I started her car.

What mainstream artist have I said I was a fan of other than Church?
Like Jesus Does is solid. Not great. But it's not terrible either.
You're ridiculous with your criticism. Give me your top 3 songs by a country artist/band of today...

Holy shite. I listened to 1994 for the first time
What is the deal with this guy wanting to rap? That Dirt Road garbage is awful, but this might be worse

Yeah some of the hate really is overblown. No different than people have been doing with Nickleback and the like for years now. It's cool to hate on pop country, and now Eric Church is seen as pop country so they'll rail against it regardless.
Notice I never proclaimed it to be a great country song. I said it was "solid" and "ok." Which is correct. It's not as bad as everything else I hear when people have it on fm country stations. My most played Pandora stations are TVZ+Guy Clark and Dwight Yoakam+Jerry Jeff Walker. I'm not a fan of pop country in any way, needless to say, but some of the overwhelming and overriding condemnation is over the top.

Sooo you're defending the song?

Not the Aldean song, the EC song. Yes I am defending it. I'm not saying it's a classic, but those that are acting like it's complete shite are moronic.

It's really pointless to argue with retards like Doc on here. They think anything mainstream after 1980 is complete garbage. I'm the first to admit radio country today is horrible, but there are some decent songs here and there. Even more so if you look at the whole album and not just the three songs released as singles. For the most part, EC puts out some good music even if some of his songs aren't that great.
Eta: I'll take Alan Jackson, Tracy Lawrence, Brooks & Dunn all day long.

Refer to my earlier post. Name me 3 mainstream artists/bands that you think are "country"
