The Beatles lasted 10 years and produced 13 studio albums. Led Zeppelin lasted 11 years and produced 8 studio albums.

The Beatles were done in 1970. They had all lived a hard, fast 10 years or so. Lennon had quit without telling anyone to pursue his life with Yoko, George had his own material he knew wasn't going to work with the Beatles, and Paul had to keep creating music that wasn't going to happen once John left. On top of all that, they had a business manager that was intentionally creating a wedge between Paul and the other three.

They really were, also after watching the documentary, all 4 guys were just cool as frick, on top of being musical geniuses.

I could totally see myself hanging out with these guys and having a blast, even with Paul being (by his own admission) kind of overbearing. lol

The best songs always come together the easiest. Listen to any musician talk about their biggest hits.

Well, except Fleetwood Mac.

Very true. I guess some have taken flash in the pan to mean a shorter time period. I was simply implying that for all they gave us as a collective unit, they had a lot more to give than we got. And what we got was amazing.

You never know what avenue a band may go down though, that could potentially tarnish or the like their reputation/image/quality/whatever I'm trying to say.

Look at the length of Pink Floyd's work and the ebbs and flows are there for example.

Bingo! Nobody realizes this.

Between 1960 and 62 they performed for 270 nights in just over a year and half over 5 trips to Germany. By the time they had their first big hits in 1963, they had performed live an estimated twelve hundred times and had also racked up over 1500 hours of rehearsal time. That is amazing!

They were actually a "band" since 1958, so they actually lasted 13 years.

They didn't Ringo full time until 1962, and Please Please Me was released in 62. ...so they recorded for about 9 years.

with silly lyrics

"Jo-Jo was a man who thought he was a woman
But then he was another man."

Nothing silly about this. In fact, how did Paul anticipate changing norms in 21st century America?

The greatest test of all is time...The Beatles shook the world, and the world is still trying to recover. The standard against which all others are judged.
