I think these songs sound similar. Kind of like two cousins who look similar. I have been disagreed with, and now I need to feel vindicated.

They are in different keys though.
Even so, you could switch the lyrics if you had a Karaoke machine.
I think the Kenny Rogers song is in G and the other one in D.

The key change is a half step for Kenny, a whole step for Billy. The accents are different at the end of the chorus. But, yeah, same song. The 1-4-5 is anybody's.
