Hangout Festival Help

So this is going to be my first festival ever and I'm super pumped but also kinda clueless. I consider myself a big music fan but don't know how the hell people ever hear of half these festival bands. I know the huge acts but who are some of the smaller guys I needa see? Also, is it true there's no night shows this year? That would suck!
Thanks for the help! I'm sure there will be a huge TD group representing this year.

Alabama Shakes is the up and comer to see this year. You just gotta go search the other bands on youtube and see what you like and just map out your day.

General festival tips
Take twice as much water and beer as you think you'll need, and half the amount of food.
If camping take extra TP. Also make sure you have some sort of shade. An EZ-UP or tarp is crucial. Baby powder is an essential.
Freeze tupperwares full of water. The bigger the ice cube the longer it will last.

It's true about the late night shows....which blows but like previously mentioned
Dr. Dog
Alabama Shakes
Gary Clark Jr
Zeds Dead
Young the Giant
Gogol Bordello
Also water isn't really an issue at Hangout...they have booths handing out squeeze bottles for free plus there are a few stations to refill
Last year was one of the best weekends of my life...

don't do drugs they are illegal

Take a backpack with a camel pak in it. Bring a large, thin blanket in that pack for when you want to get off your feet and sit in the sand. You don't have to worry about camping stuff cuz you won't be camping at hangout. Stuff anything you need to sneak in inside the blanket. They don't search very hard. Buy some molly and just say frick it.

Also, two words: sliding shorts
You won't get chaffed, you can safely keep all your money and various items tucked into there so they won't fall out or get stolen, and when getting searched at the gates you just tuck all your drugs into your gooch and you're good to go.

I've worn under armour boxer jocks for every festival I've gone too... They are designed to wick moisture away from the body and they fit fairly snug, thereby prevent chaffing. I use them for the same purposes you mention (although I keep my cash, card, and phone in a waterproof box in my camelbak). I prefer them over "sliding shorts" as they don't come down to your knees. The only bad thing about both is they will trap sand inside of them, which can get uncomfortable at Hangout.

Being that Hangout is not generally a camping fest (although the fiancé and I camped on the cheap at the state park for it last year), most of these don't apply to this guy.
However, no matter the fest, I always bring at least two EZ-Ups and put on over my tent, and one over the east facing area in front of my tent. With a battery operated fan (O2 Cool) and leaving the rainfly off, that's good for a couple extra hours of comfortable sleep.

THIS... No matter how much water and beer we bring, it's typically gone by the time I'm finished packing the car to go home. As for food, my fiancé and I only bring pop-tarts, seeds, and trail mix. I can easily live off of "Spicy Pie Pizza" (my FAVORITE, if available at the fest) or other festy-foods.

last year at hangout, there was this vendor booth that was selling cold caprese salads that was the perfect thing to eat in hot weather. I might eat only that all weekend!
