My opinion: Get out and hear some guys playing, that do what you like. Find out which ones give lessons, then find out which one you click with. Be ready to give examples of some things you would like to learn, and see how they respond.
In the meantime keep working on basic scales and your motor skills.

I was kind of like you watching videos and could tell I was never going to get where I wanted to be as a player. My wife found a guy on Facebook that was advertising lessons. I was a little skeptical but I've been going now for about three months and it's made a really big difference. For me it was like starting over but I did just start learning last year. Don't know where you live but he is in Covington and i believe he is looking for a couple more students.

In greater Houston (where I think I remember you at)? I start my search by asking non-GC locally owned reputable guitar stores. Fuller's, and Rockin' Robin, would be my first calls.

Pose the question on Facebook's "Baton Rouge Musicians" page and you will get good leads.

It's up to you, to set yourself apart. Don't blame them.
Every bit of this, is up to you. You either have a fire, or you don't. If you are the real deal, and want it, nothing can stop you, you will only find the people that can help you. Stop expecting some magic easy shite.

Awesome place.
Ordered a guitar Sunday night and was playing it by 1PM Tuesday.
Live in neighboring La. and don’t think I could have driven there and back quicker.

Fun place to go and drool. They took “Vintage” off of their name. But they still have some.

They had a ratty 000-18 from 1939 I believe. It was ratty in the right way. Sounded amazing and the neck felt like a handrail in an old public building. So smooth and worn.
