Guitar Center gets a way worse rap than it really deserves imo.

The BR location has some nice guys, I've had pleasant experiences with both their drum guy and their guitar tech

However I have also had some really bad/awkward check out experiences much like were described in this thread already

I don't mind all the youngsters playing in there, they are just learning and having fun playing on gear they won't be able to buy until they are older

I love spending a few hours in GC on the weekends. Just pull up a chair and listen to the free concert--one dude shredding out slayer's greatest hits and some old black guy trebling all over the 5 string bass ripping out some old Isley bros tunes and while a hippie is strumming out Crosby stills and nash on sweet Martin with the gain all the way up. I'm telling you its the sweetest sounds.

I actually bought my Strat from there, really nice guys.

May have to give them another look-see! It's been a while since I was in there, and the salesman followed me around the store like a lost puppy!

In there fairly often and they'll respect your search unless you ask for help

My experience the more expensive guitar you are playing the more the salesmen wont leave you alone. Play a cheap guitar and you cant get help. picked up a PRS and the salesmen would not leave. LOL gotta love commision work.

Also because the salesman doesn't want to have the kid scratch up the PRS and then bolt for the door....

I do agree that their staff hovers when you don't want them to, and then it takes you 10 minutes to find someone to check you out when all you need is a set of strings...

Though I did get great deals there on my PRS and Martin D-41...

I love their mentality. They all act like they don't belong there bc they're selling all the popular mass produced shite.

I wish they would restring and tune the guitars instead of trying to impress everyone

The drum/cymbal section is great. Great deals on sticks and pretty solid cymbal selection.
