I saw him about a year or two later with the LRB. Might have been at the Centroplex though.

I would have loved to be at Deep Purple's Made in Japan performance. By far my favorite live show.

I really envy those of you who caught Grand Funk, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath shows while they were at their pinnacle.

CCR. Any live performance back in the day. And...that opening guitar sequence to "Green River" sent chills up my spine...truly the greatest rock 'n roll opener ever (Sorry, Beatles).

Wham!!!

Funny, but I'd put George Michael's performance of "Somebody To Love" at the Concert For Freddie right up there. The whole show was great.

Best I've seen was the first Little Feat show after Lowell George died; that was on the Riverboat President as part of Jazz Fest in the late 80's.

I was there as well....very special....would have loved to have been in DC when they recorded "waiting for Columbus"

You were actually at this show? That is incredible. The YouTube footage of the Metallica performance with all the fans rushing the field is amazing. It looked like a borderline riot with all the chairs being tossed towards that stage. If you haven't seen this footage look it up. I wish I could have seen them in their 80's prime.

Yes I was there and I've never seen any footage of it. I'll definitely look that up. Thanks!

I went to quite a few Metallica shows in the 80s before the black album. First one I saw was on the Master of Puppets tour when they opened for Ozzy. Saw three shows on the Justice tour. fricking awesome best shows I ever saw.

puddle of mudd 2011 when I saw them at the texas club

This has to be a joke...I saw them on tour with Shinedown and they were the absolute worst band I have ever heard live.

The other opening acts all killed it, though; 10 Years, Sevendust, and Chevelle.
