yes but no one should take me seriously

except on the fact that some songs mentioned - still get played all the time in some kind of, so that's hardly forgotten

Ok thread police!!
I mentioned Running up that Hill because it has gotten over played recently because of a TV show. Did you even read the post fully.
Before the TV show it wasn’t played all the time and I still got excited when it came on. Definitely not forgotten by me and it wasnt played often on First Wave till recently. Honestly before Stranger Things some people probably never heard of it at all. Off topic a little but I was replying to a previous post
Happy for Kate Bush but it killed that song for me.

Before Stranger Things, Running Up the Hill was over 100 million listens on the streaming platforms (not including radio play or other metrics) - I'll give you the benefit of doubt, it was a much bigger song in Europe than the United States, but it was still a gigantic song in the States plus there were several cover versions by bands like Placebo that charted - Kate Bush in the mid to late 2010s did like her first 2 or 3 live shows in the UK in 20 plus years that were covered by every site I went to

100 million listens

Starting when?
Not sure those numbers really disqualify a song from being forgotten by the masses or by some individuals
Like I said I was replying to the above poster because it reminded me of this song. I hope you got to see her live at one of those shows

I hate every cover of that song.

I think the difference is when you hear sixteen year-olds singing the songs that you haven't heard for years.

I heard a high schooler say how much she loved Joy Division, and the song Atmosphere in particular. No matter how many Joy Division fans there are still listening, to garner a new audience via a television show can awaken a song in a different way.

Okay, that's way too many words to say so little.

Before Stranger Things, I would put Running Up That Hill to the comparison of maybe Beds Are Burning by Midnight Oil - so if you want to think it's forgotten, ok - I think people that grew up in the mid 80s remember the song as a lexicon - maybe we just have different views on forgotten, which is fine

Running Up that Hill was a better example than Unbelievable if that makes you feel better

I never said it was forgotten.
It doesn’t make me feel better.

Some people saw unbelievable and thought wow I forgot about that song.

Always felt this is one of Neil's most overlooked songs, but a personal favorite...

Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Over and Over (1990)

I think Neil really doesn't want to tour anymore- he might play the Chicago area one or two more times - that's a big might, any chance you get tickets to Farm Aid?

Oh nice, heard Salt Shed is a pretty cool venue - that should be a fun show (I'm coming to Chicago in Sept for Riot, I talk to a few people/have old friends in the Chicago area) .. someone mentioned Squeeze in this thread
