I’m mostly a hard rock and metal guy with some scattered tastes in other genres but hip hop and rap is definitely something I’ll mostly stay away from. However, I’ve always been a fan of T9 and some of Eminem. How is he generally received? I’m just curious.

I'm the same as you in taste. I love Tech. Awesome music to workout to also.

I never found his music interesting. Every song sounds the same.

Similar to modern Eminem, IMO. I think he gets a lot of respect for his technical skill for good reason.

I think he gets regarded as somewhat corny and doesn't have the street fanbase, similarly to Eminem. He is one of the best fast rappers ever and has been crazy productive.

I love Worldwide Choppers, Straight Out The Gate remix, Push Start...a lot of his songs. Tech is legit and an innovator. If you're mostly into metal and rock, he's one of the rappers closer to your natural tastes.

Constantly Dirty, This Ring, and Straight Out the Gate w/ Serj. So many good tracks. I like his delivery, makes it sound effortless.

A recommendation for OP. If you're usually a metal/rock guy, but like Tech N9ne, you might also like Yelawolf.

Interesting. There’s a genre of metal called djent that’s particularly looked down on in some in some respects cause it’s a bit over saturated. T9 has some aspects of his rap I’ve been listening to that aren’t very conventional so I was curious.

I was introduced to him through Riot Maker and Sickology 101 so I guess it makes sense doesn’t it

He did some weirder stuff early in his career with some of the devil imagery. I think it's one reason why he's looked at as not having much street cred by the traditional gangsta rap crowd. He came close to an updated version of horrorcore rap.

If you want another journey into side rap, listen to Gravediggaz. Horrorcore rap was a thing for a bit. Insane Clown Posse is the only group that really sustained in that subgenre.

I threw out Yelawolf bc he's done a lot of country/rock influenced rap and it's actually good. It is a true rapper expanding his influences, not a bro country pretender.

He’s more underground, and you probably won’t find many people born after 1990 listening to him a whole lot, doesn’t mean he’s bad though.
