Fan Asks To Play Drums On Foo Fighters’ ‘Under Pressure’ Cover & Band Obliges
this is a very cool move by the band, and a very badass exploit by the fan

Foo Fighters fan and University Of South Carolina student Pierce Tracy Edge attended the band’s Concrete & Gold tour stop at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina on Tuesday night. Pierce brought along a sign he held up all night asking to play drums for Foo Fighters on a cover of “Under Pressure” by Queen & David Bowie. Dave Grohl & Co. finally obliged towards the end of the evening and Pierce crushed his role behind the kit.

The dude was awesome.
"Pierce"
He said "Go Cocks" and Grohl looked at him like "uhhh...whatever"...lol.
But the kid could play.
That was a good deal during the encore.

Feels a little staged, but I can live with it.
(By staged, I mean this was all coordinated ahead of time and the kid probably went through rehearsal of the song with the band.)
Again - I can live with it.

That was my impression...had to be staged.
It went too well.

Who has the more cringe gimmicks: Foo Fighters or KISS?

I dig their joe six pack vibe, but good grief 99% of their music is redundant sounding garbage to me

He also keeps insisting that Tom Petty asked him to "join" the Heartbreakers. Which isn't an out and out fabrication, but is pretty much a falsity. Petty asked him to play what would have amounted to be a couple of gigs before Steve Farone could leave the Duran Duran tour he was on. The Heartbreakers had already settled on Farone who was recommended by George Harrison as Stan Lynch's replacement. Luckily his shi^^y drumming was only seen and heard when T.P. and the Heartbreakers played SNL in '95.
Grohl is currently the biggest poser in music.

Not staged at all. That was my son. He got in line at 2:00 to get in the front row and held a sign asking to play. He hasn't played the drums since he left for college 2 years ago.

Ferrone was the drummer for the Average White Band on Cut the Cake (and other albums of the late 70s), replacing the original drummer who died right after their monster album, AWB. Somewhat ironically, Ferrone is African American.
Slight hijack: AWB were partiers (not surprising for a Scottish band) - McIntosh (the original drummer) and Gorrie, the singer/bass player, both OD'd at the same party in 1974. McIntosh died. Gorrie was kept alive by Cher, apparently. What a time to have been alive.

They could randomly select 6 people from the audience and they would be better than the Foo Fighters.

Wow. I guess you don't like Nirvana and Queens of the Stone Age either?

I may not care for a lot of their music, but these guys sure look like they're having a blast playing and I love the way they interact with their crowds.
