Favorite/Least Era of Music?

This feels like it needs to be broken down more.

Like the best era for R&B might coincide with the worst for Metal. So if you’re a fan of one you’ll say it was a great era and if you’re a fan of another you’ll say it sucked.

Also, streaming services altered the landscape. It used to be the only way you knew of a band was either by radio play or if you frequented the music scene. This meant cherry picked music for most people.

The further back you go, the more cherry picked the music gets. If you look at #1 songs back in the 50s on any given week you might see two to three songs that still get played. The most popular songs aren’t always the ones that end up on the “Classic Hits” we associate with those eras but is what the people of the time were listening to the most.

For me the run from 1995 through 2004 was abysmal…rock/metal was in an awful place with the death of true heavy music….by the mid 2000’s people realized they had made a mistake and opened their arms again to metal. (If anyone says Korn carried the metal torch during this time please go play in the street).

favorite- old school country.

I can listen to that genre pretty much anytime, any season.

Least fave era- not so much an era of music but the hard nasty rap and death metal genres of music do not appeal to me at all.

Golden age was from 1965 through the decade of the 70s. It has been all downhill since then to the point that most of the current stuff I don’t even consider music.
