A minus - White Lion, Ratt, Warrant, Whitesnake

B - LA Guns, Winger, WASP, Dokken, Cinderella,

C - Enuff Z Nuff, Bang Tango

D - Danger Danger, Dangerous Toys, Sea Hags, etc.

1. Def Leppard. The Pyromania album was a game changer for rock music and (in my humble opinion), was the benchmark for the entire "hair metal" genre. I was 11 when it was released in 1983 and witnessed the influence it had on the music that came after...

2. Dokken
3. Ratt
4. Whitesnake
5. Warrant

So what’s our criteria here?

GNR was not pop metal.

Slash actually auditioned for Poison before GnR. They told him he would have to wear their glam uniform and do cheoregraphed dance moves if he wanted in. He said frick that shite and turned them down. (This came from an interview I saw with Slash).

Yes, GNR was an LA band like most of the hair metal groups, but that's about where the similarity ends. Their sound was nothing like Poison and those other bands.

(And I like Poison, Ive seen them live a couple times).

They're also my number one. First cd I ever bought was Hysteria. I think I literally wore the disc out if that's possible
