I haven't listened to this instrument much but the track on "live at union station" with Jerry Douglas(I think) playing, is an absolutely beautiful song. Does anyone have any recommendations for stuff like that. I know i won't listen to that type of music often so any bands that incorporate this instrument very often where you can really hear it would be cool. Just looking for a few suggestions of some bands that play the shite out of it that I might enjoy. Thanks in advance for the one or two people that might respond to this thread.

Check out The Great Dobro Sessions. It's an Various Artist album from the 90s with a ton of great players.
Jerry Douglas is really in a class by himself. No one really plays it like he does.
He's been around for years. I know he has solo albums going back to the 70s before he hitched up with Alison and US.

I've got a buddy who plays dobro and pedal steel. His name is Ben Kitterman. He mostly plays with Aaron Lewis but I know he's done plenty of collabs with other artists as well. He's awesome.

Which track off that release? He tears it up on quite a few. Check out the Jerry Douglas Band on YT. Lots of stuff out there.

It's a resonator guitar, like the Dobro... they are built a little different

Its a mostly improvisational song. He plays it differently every time.
