Do you even know who The Verve is?
Yes, which makes your inclusion of them in the Big 5 even more mind blowing. If you want to say that The Verve is older than Muse, I'll go with that. Forming in '89 puts them at 5 years older than Muse. However, to say they're bigger than Muse, especially in the last ten years, is laughable.
ETA: The rest of your list is on point.

Notice the thread is from 1990-till now. Has Muse ever had a top 10 best selling album of the decade in the United Kingdom? No. The Verve has. Does Muse have an album in the top 20 best-selling of all time in the UK? No. The Verve has. That little band in your signature picture only has the utmost respect for Richard Ashcroft and The Verve. Chris Martin and Coldplay only called Richard Ashcroft the best singer of all time...I don't hear or see the same thing for Muse.
ETA: My roommate (a self proclaimed "yam yam" said you all are way out of your element for your Verve comments and "Muse is fricking cheesy").

The US is much much stronger given the extreme depth of the field and variance of sounds coming out of smaller labels like Matador, Sub Pop, and Merge (and a hundred others).
DIY wins the day.

The Stone Roses have the greatest debut album ever by a large margin

Me peronally I know the Verve by two things: Bitter Sweet Symphany and their legal troubles with the song.
To comment further would just be unfair cause I truly have no idea.
I just do not know enough about them and IMO they should not be on that top five as for as I go. I really don't know crap about the Stone Roses either.
Like most threads on this borad their is a ton of music that is new all tother to me and I make attempts to hear them. I just don't see myself doing this for the Verve. # 17 on the all time list or not.
Having a hard on for the Verve though doesn't make them top five. To each his own

I am making an attempt at the Verve right now... one word comes to mind. Church.
