Here's a song I wrote and uh
that's me on guitar and banjo
I'm thinking I'll add a new song every day (or most days) and hopefully y'all can help me get better. I was gonna put bass and drums on it too but somebody has my bass and I'm waiting to get it back
for instance, I don't know what the deal is with the thumping sound but I think it's coming from my acoustic guitar
This song is called "the nose ring" I hope y'all enjoy

She said I didn’t sign up for this crocodile Dundee life baby you’re thinking of overboard I swear it’s just this one time
She’s a city gal with a country man
She chose the chaparral over the concrete land
Chorus
Put the ring in his nose and kick him off his mama put him out in the field with the longhorns and brahmas
Let him fight the other bulls let him switch at the flies let him taste the salt for tomorrow he may die
We can take the wheeler or the side by side
I’ll get the gates if you wanna drive
First we gotta find him he’s quick as the devil throw a rope around his neck bring him down to our level
Hit ‘em with that lasso baby Buffalo soldier Put that rompun in his tail vein just like I showed you
Chorus
Gotta tie up his legs to make him a steer give him a blackleg put a tag in his ear
Baby just slow down what’s on the ring in his nose I’m down on one knee you can start crying I suppose
It was my maw maws ring I don’t know the carats why don’t you say yes let’s get married

I feel like Shinyribs would do a great cover of that song.

I think it would sound better if a cowbell was added. Thoughts?

You didn't say anything about dancing in the back of the truck, or cold beer, songs on the radio or applebee's.

send me to the ukraine
I got my bass back and was adding ancillary parts but i couldn't come up with anything that sounded good so i just left it nebraska style. maybe some day
ETA: I can't guarantee I put up a song tomorrow because I think I'm gonna go play at a singer songwriter thing
also when I check if this is gonna work google drive makes me download it into itunes and I don't know how to fix that. It's not intentional

I really like this. I think you should slow it down just a little, so your best lines have a little time to sink in.
How are you doing your recording?
Can you just record your guitar track, and then do the vocal?
That way, you can mic your guitar better and also get a nice clear vocal.
Here is a link that might be useful to you too.
This guy is first rate. At least 35 years running his studio. His thing is demo services for songwriters.

It’s an acoustic guitar and I sing through a pa
Bro it’s hard to keep up with one or the other when you’re not doing them both at the same time. I could try separating them
ETA: I have a band of guys that’s as pro as you can get for here and we’ve recorded before. Wasn’t super crazy for the recording process
I’m mostly doing this because I have way more volume than we can keep up with. I feel like I write like 5 songs a week. If you wanna polish them up feel free but if you get big singing my songs I want a cut
ETA: I record through a snowball and was thinking I might put another snowball at a different angle someplace

Figure out a way to chart your guitar part out, any way that works for you.
These tascam recorders are really good and easy to use for a songwriter. You can get a good clear recording on simple stuff.
If you have a pickup in your guitar, you can plug it straight in.

I'm in the same boat as you, I've got more songs than I'm able to record properly.

That's the great thing about the guy at the link I gave you. You can just send him your work recording( like what you are posting here) along with a lyric sheet, and he will do a guitar/vocal rcording with a fantastic singer for about 150 bucks, and it will sound great, he will also include a track without the vocal, so you can just record your own vocal with it.
Give his site a good look. Everything he does is first rate. If anything, Galen undersells himself. He's a pro and has become the top songwriter demo service in Nashville for a good reason.

Anyone else having trouble with playing the file? The page looks normal but when I press play nothing happens.

workin fine for me. are your speakers on?
Posted on 11/17/22 at 11:38 pm to el Gaucho
Can’t you just use GarageBand or something similar to record separate tracks?
Posted on 11/18/22 at 6:43 am to Havoc
If you click the link and then click view it’ll work on an iPhone
I can try playing the tracks separately into garage band and see how it comes out

Aside from the obvious things (recording quality, room for improvement, etc.), I think your voice has good potential. Good overall tone/edge to it.

It worked fine on laptop but wasn't on mobile.

The Ukraine song could def use some cowbell.
And after that, more cowbell.

They have those set up in our Congress. They ring the bell and we send billions of dollars, unquestioned.
