^ Steve Jordan, right? Dude has a pocket a mile deep.

I can't believe I had a chance to go see him play with John Mayer a few years ago and just didn't even get off my butt to pick up the tickets.

I got to see him with Clapton in New Orleans. It was magical.

So I've kinda narrowed down my big drum investment I will be making in the next few months.

Gretsch USA Custom
Yamaha Club Custom
Ludwig Classic Maple

24x16, 13x9, 16x16, and 14x6.5

Decisions, decisions...

My limit is 4k. Less is better.

The excess dough will go towards a Paiste Masters Dark Ride and maybe one more crash.

Don't deprive yourself of at least checking out a DW Collector kit. If I had 4K to spend on a new kit, that's the direction I'd go. Even a used kit. Mine is 17 years old and she still sounds beautiful and, the best part is, she's so easy to tune. I've never had an easier tuning experience.

Now that I've gotten my DW sales pitch out of the way, I'll say that, out of the three brands you mentioned, I believe I'd go Gretch...

Ok. So what piece of rational equipment should I expect from the family for Father's Day?
Tamborine?
Cow bell?
A complete set of Zildjan Ks or As?
Padded door for my drum room?

For the record, I'm blaming you guys when my wife starts asking why I'm hunting for my drum books and sticks

I think today will be one of those lazy Saturdays that involves cleaning and tuning my kit. Might even slap some new heads on. Anyone else working on anything?

Funny you should ask. I recently "rescued" a Pearl Forum kit from the attic it's been sitting in for three years (18" kick, 10" rack tom, 14" floor).

I put new batter heads on both toms today, along with a new Emad 2 on the kick batter and (because its kind-of a tradition for me) a Remo Fiberskyn on the resonant side of the kick...because I like the way it looks. Those two heads made that little neglected 18" kick go from sounding like a garbage can to sounding like Bonzo's 26". Well...at least in my head it does. Those old heads sounded as awful as they possibly could.

I also got all the rust off the stands, tuning lugs and other hardware. Can't wait to use it at my next rehearsal...

I got to use a tunebot this weekend. I normally don't use that type of thing but wow. My kit hasn't sounded this good ever. Nor has it ever tuned that easily and quickly. To top it off I FINALLY GOT MY 16X16 SOUNDING GOOD!!!! That alone convinced me

I really wanna do a rescue/rebuild project but I can't find any decent kits for my budget.
