They opened for Metallica during the 2003 Summer Sanitarium tour. The opening acts were Deftones, Mudvayne, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit. My buddies and I got there extra early to be front and center. Yeaaaah, not a good idea. That was the worst 3+ hours of opening music I could have imagined. It wasn't that Deftones stood out to be particularly bad (they weren't) but they were also nothing special.

I've seen them before. Smaller venue and it wasn't too bad. I have a friend that has seen them a few times (included the SS show) and said they suck pretty bad at larger venues.

i have seen then close to ten times since White Pony came out and i can say there was a period where they seemed to be going through the motions (Self-titled album and Saturday Night Wrist tour cycles); however, after Chi's accident, they just exploded. the last two times i saw them were the best two shows ever! there energy is phenomenal

Deftones Jam!! Phish is great if I want to go barefoot to a concert and hang with a bunch of granolas.
However, I do thing their guitar player has some nice chops.

White Pony is a bad arse cd. Haven't kept up with them as much since then. Gonna have to check it out.

Complete opposite for me. I hated Adrenaline but really liked Around the Fur. I haven't heard anything after White Pony. My biggest problem is Chino's whisper vocals. I can't get into that style.

Bump. They have another new song out: Tempest
I'm not a huge Deftones fan but these two songs are really good. I'll definitely look into this CD when it comes out.
