Deconstructing The Beatles "Something" (Isolated Tracks)
So much excellence here.

The harmony between George and Paul is frighteningly great. LINK

re: Deconstructing The Beatles "Something" (Isolated Tracks)
Maybe The Beatles' best song.

It's layered nuance would inspire scads of 1970s soft rock bands to try to replicate (Jackson Browne, Fleetwood Mac, Linda Ronstadt, etc.). I don't think there is any doubt it is the best crafted, best produced Beatles song. I mean, is there?

(ETA: Even Ole Blue Eyes was impressed.)

John and Paul didn’t really take George’s songwriting seriously at first and then by the end George was writing as John Lennon said “the best track on Abbey Road” (Something).

But George was great before Abbey Road. While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Savoy Truffle are awesome songs off of the White Album. My favorite George song is actually Think for Yourself way back on Rubber Soul.

Harrison broke the Beatles, although Lennon was close to doing so.

The songwriters (Lennon, some McCartney) knew he couldn't be held back anymore, and they were quasi brothers, all knew.

I don’t think so.
“Something” is pretty well established as the pinnacle of Beatles music. It’s a perfect song with viable contributions from all four guys. And George’s solo album “all things must pass” is even better than abbey road

Deep in the prehistoric days in which you still had to type "www" in front of a URL to get it to load up in Netscape, I stumbled across an amazing site that broke down every single song the Beatles ever recorded. Heavy emphasis on music theory, but clever insight into instrumentation, arrangements, and production techniques as well.

Of course it's early 90s-era web design, so the top page looks hideous, and the individual song pages are just black Times New Roman text on a white background, but the insights are fascinating and quite exhaustive.

Notes On The Beatles

A quick DuckDuckGo search found this site, which organizes things a bit better.

Thanks...great watch/listen. Here's the guide from the comments as to the sections.

Drums 0:00-2:56
Bass 2:58-5:56
Guitars, Second Bass and Piano 5:57-8:58
Hammond Organ and Orchestra 9:02-11:56
Vocals 11:58-14:38

I'm sure you've heard the Abby Road Medley/vocals only before. I listen to it often by itself.

Good song, but nowhere near their best.

For all their issues at this time, it was John who insisted that Something be a double-A side single with Come Together, giving George a #1 with the Beatles.

What's really interesting is digging up the recording sessions on youtube and hearing George sing "attracts me like a cauliflower."

It’s basically a Beatles cutting room floor album. It’s so damn good. Wah-wah is a classic

re: Deconstructing The Beatles "Something" (Isolated Tracks)
Sure is.

I think it could be the best solo album from any Beatle.

That or Imagine imo.
