At least i was able to find some humor online with various comments - also all the dejected people in dead shirts walking around at lunch time was somewhat funny. Oh well - maybe they will schedule a Friday night make-up show.

I figured it would take a little longer than that to recover from this type of surgery.

I'm guessing Orlando (Thurs 2/7) and Sunrise/Miami (Fri 2/8) shows will also be cancelled. Post-op recovery for appendectomy is usually 1-2 weeks until resuming normal work routine or daily living activities.

mayer is a pussy. bill the former bassist for american aquarium had an emergency appendectomy and played their show that same night.

quote:

The doctors laughed at first, until they saw that I was serious,” recounts American Aquarium bassist Bill Corbin of his emergency room trip the day of the band’s August release party for Burn.Flicker.Die. Corbin had tried to cure a sudden and severe case of abdominal trouble himself the night before with a bottle of Pepto Bismol and a roll of Tums — “I didn’t want to go to the hospital and find out it was just gas; that’d be embarrassing,” — but sought professional help when the pain refused to subside. He needed an appendectomy, which, despite his pleas, couldn’t be delayed until after the sold-out show, so he went under the knife immediately with plans to play later that night.

Following surgery, Corbin was whisked to what he remembers as a hazy sound check. After resting briefly at his sister’s place — he is human, after all — he performed to a hometown crowd at Raleigh, N.C.’s Lincoln Theatre roughly seven hours after leaving the operating table. It’s just that kind of headstrong spirit that’s helped American Aquarium earn a growing and devoted following across the South while spending roughly 1,000 nights on the road over the last four years.

Bill the bassist probably didn’t have a huge vocal role, to be fair.

Howlin Wolf = Wookie central. I forgot about the gas dealers. They are like a clan of rats.

Anyway, ditched the line around 9pm after a 2 hour wait. Appeared another 200 people on the opposite side WITH tickets still weren't gaining admission. Hopefully it will be a good show for everyone.

Someone please send report. Thanks.

Translation?

quote:

Wookie central

Wookie (noun)- Trust funded high school drop out who discovers he/she can have a better time traveling and selling doses than contributing to society on a positive level. Typically white 20 and 30 somethings with dreadlocks and patch work clothing. Typically frequent/follow the jam band circuit tours and do not purchase tickets, rather sell overpriced IPA craft beers and under/overcooked burritos outside a show venue.

quote:

gas dealers

Gas = Nitrous Oxide administered in multi color ballons. Gas sales usually take place in the shadows of Shakdown street, easily found by following the loud hissing of gas out of the large aluminum tanks. Dealer = See "wookie" above. Additionally, a gas dealer is a bit shadier than a Wookie, usually a 40 to 50 something white male who drives a late model 4 door sedan with midwestern plates and cracked tail light. The typical gas has an extensive criminal record and his/her head is on constant swivel, trying not to steer clear of local authorities.

quote:

clan of rats.

Conflict usually occurs when a new rat, especially an adult male, appears and tries to join the colony. The newcomer's status, and sometimes its fate, is determined by the first few encounters it has with the colony residents. Fights that occur are seldom intense or bloody.

Was already on the road when we got the news about John. I was pretty sad but we decided to make the most of it, plus couldnt cancel our room and other friends were already down there. We figured there would either be something organized at howlin wolf or tipitinas. Once we got the preannouncement from howlin wolf we immediately ordered tickets. I heard it sold out in like less than 30 min and some people waited outside for 2 hours. First set was great, second set was my least favorite and kinda messed up my jammin just bc thats what we hear all the time in nola. Third set/superjam was good stuff, i finally had to throw in the towel around 2ish but they were going strong in there. I gotta say it was heady AF in the worst way possible in there. So many wooks were trying to sneak in and they were really gross and smelly...like the worst cases i had ever seen and i was at the boulder show this summer. One guy wa-wa’ed out in the middle of the street and ambulance had to come get him. When i walked out the front door to leave at 2am it was like a bomb had gone off out there and half the lot had moved to the neutral ground. The balloons are way out of control. It’s kinda sad how disrespectful the fans my age are towards everything. I did meet this crazy old hippy in a wheelchair who was having so much fun just ramming his chair right through the crowd of twirlers. He had lots of advice to give me while i tried to collect myself on the bleachers. Fantastic people watching for sure.
