I have been a big Acid Bath kick lately

I just want to post to say holy crap, both AB albums age like fine wine.
I jammed PTT all last week and then I put on WTKSP this morning and just wow. All kinds of memories flooded into my thoughts. We used to wear these albums out as teenagers.
I cant tell if I like Kite String better than Pagan bc both are masterpieces. Pagan has a different feel and sound altogether, you can tell on that album Dax was influencing more of the songs from a riff/music standpoint to highlight his vocals. It's definitely more mellow in general and as a teenager I took to that more. Bleed me an Ocean and Dead Girl are two of their best songs.
But Kite String could be the best heavy album ever made. It's just so raw and full. It's twisted, and it has a perfect mixture of screaming and melody vocals. It really is an accomplishment in heavy music history. The blue through scream of the butterfly is probably the best first half of any record ever made. You have the raw power and then are just treated to arguably their best written mellow song in Scream of the Butterfly which just features Dax, with acoustic guitars.
It's a shame Audi passed with his parents bc a fricking drunk driver hit and killed them, they were at their peak.

I get a big smile every time an Acid Bath song comes on my playlist.
I just started listening to Death, a little bit. I can here their influence in Acid Bath, but AB is a much better band all around.

That's a bold claim, friend. I admit I haven't delved too deep into Acid Bath though. It doesn't help that their stuff is only available on CD.

There's not too much to dig into, they only have two albums. Saying Acid Bath is better than Death is indeed the hottest of hot takes though.

Agreed. That's comparing basically 2 different styles of metal.

Thank you so much! Sorry it took so long for me to respond. I'm looking forward to hearing more.

That and the fact that Chuck Schuldiner is one of the greatest frontmen ever and was so influential that an entire genre of music was named after his band.

Give me a choice between the 2 and I'll take AB every time.
But yeah, you can hear their influence on AB in their more musically aggressive tunes. AB seems to have a broader style overall.

I didn't hear a lot of Death until recently. They're the kind of band that probably won't keep a permanent spot on my sd card.

While Death was one of the early pioneers of death metal, that's not exactly where the name comes from. There were many bands shaping the style and one of them named their album "Death Metal" in 1983 as well (Possessed)

Piggybacking off of this comment with the origins of black metal.
I've never gotten into Death. Vocals just aren't my thing. Extremely talented though.

Ok guys, well after a conversation here's the update:
His son (he only has one) Sy just graduated and he's spending more time with him right now hanging out, getting him on track, etc
He is continuing to record the new album. He has about 17+ (!!!) songs fleshed out, and a lot of it already recorded. He set up a home studio.
Speculation it quite possibly could be a double album, he's leaning towards that if he keeps nailing these songs.
No release date set but "soon" (it's always been "soon" he won't budge)
But after that info, it feels like it could be 2020 IMO.
Very happy to hear this. Been listening to the latest two Dax records a lot lately and would love to hear something new from him.
I don't mind which direction the music takes. He's such a unique singer and songwriter that I'm sure it'll be interesting no matter what :-)
